InnoSquare: A Sustainable and Innovative Business Centre

Reimagining the Workplace with Organic Inspiration

Revolving around the overall theme of the tree trunk, the spatial planning and material application of the facility at once embody important notions of organic growth, branching out, and sustainability. They not only refresh the contemporary workplace into a youthful and human-centric coworking base but also contribute to a multi-tenant office and various multifunctional areas for cross-cultural exchanges, collaboration, presentations, conferences, exhibitions, as well as MICE events.

The InnoSquare business centre, designed by Penny Chan and Iris Lam, stands out as a unique and aesthetically pleasing space. The conceptual pivot of the tree trunk serves as the foundation for the design, creating a self-sustained ecosystem of professional talents. The use of wood skin wall panels with stainless steel and minimal stone creates a luxurious and sustainable finishing, projecting an evergreen appearance.

The facility is thoughtfully divided into five major areas: the breakout area, coworking space, multifunction rooms, premier offices, and studio. Each area caters to the working style and needs of modern young executives. The breakout area, located adjacent to the pantry, offers a handy and cozy corner for come-and-go meetings, casual presentations, or a quick bite. The coworking space features flexible workstations, private enclosed cubicles with wall graphics of the Lion Rock Mountain, representing the spirit of Hong Kong, and seven meeting rooms, each with a unique extended conceptual pattern of the tree.

One of the key challenges faced during the design process was the integration of sustainability principles. The design team placed significant effort into sourcing eco-friendly materials, such as a carpet with a zero carbon footprint and wallpaper made from recycled material waste. Even the transportation of materials was meticulously monitored to achieve a zero carbon footprint. To improve indoor air quality and prioritize tenant wellness, living organic mosses were ordered from Finland. These mosses have the functions of noise cancellation and chemical absorption within the space.

The InnoSquare business centre, completed in April 2021 in Hong Kong, has garnered recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contribute to quality of life improvements, and incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology.

With its innovative and sustainable approach, InnoSquare sets a new standard for contemporary workplaces. By embracing the organic inspiration of the tree trunk, this business centre creates a harmonious and productive environment for professionals, fostering collaboration, creativity, and growth.
